Singing a Housewife's Praises
I'm a stay at home mom. I have a two year old, Cali Isabella and a baby boy due July 22nd.
I do a lot of cleaning. Some people wonder what the heck stay-at-home moms do all day. Well, other than preparing tasty meals, getting them down 2-year- old throats, cleaning up the mess they leave behind, doing the dishes, making grocery lists, changing diapers, scraping poop out of the training potty, changing peed-on bed sheets, doing a few loads of laundry, paying bills, managing the budget, keeping the kids happy, keeping the husband happy (need I mention more here?).... we don't do much.
Oh- and if we're lucky, we get in the shower. And if we are even MORE lucky, we can apply some makeup and fix our hair.
After a long day, I would love Dave to come home and say, "WOW, babe! This place looks amazing. This is the BEST meal I've ever had. WAY TO GO! You deserve a night out. Here's $100 to go out to eat with a friend and go buy a new outfit - shoes, accessories and everything."
Not sure if $100 would cover it... but you get the point.
And then I read Luke 17:7-10.
7"Suppose one of you had a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Would he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, 'Come along now and sit down to eat'? 8Would he not rather say, 'Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink'? 9Would he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do? 10So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.' "
It reminded me that I'm just doing what I'm supposed to do.
I do enjoy an evening out or some quality "me time." But my motivation should not be "because I deserve it."
I'll sing a housewife's praises; not because she deserves it, but because she does it knowing she is serving the One who created her to do it. And it couldn't make her happier...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS POST! You said it all 4 sure!
